MERMAID: Microbial Resource Management to Close the Urban Water Cycle

MERMAID is a European network training promising young researchers to describe and control the microbial communities central to the treatment of water. The ambition of the training network funded by the European Commission is to strongly establish the emergent discipline of Microbial Resource Management & Engineering, defined as managing and engineering open microbial communities to attain specific services for the benefit of society and the environment. This training network is coordinated by DTU (the Technical University of Denmark), and involves partners in Belgium (Gent University), the United Kingdom (Newcastle University), Portugal (New University of Lisbon), and Switzerland (EAWAG/ETH) as well as private partners.
